Plenty of Newcastle United fans have reacted to a report from journalist Martin Samuel for the Daily Mail who claims that alarm bells are ringing over the potential takeover deal.
The writer warns that whilst emotions may be running high on Tyneside at the moment, there is still time for the takeover to shape up differently.
He added a list of factors that may make members of the Toon faithful feel more pessimistic rather than optimistic over the deal, including delays, convoluted structures, the partners, brokers and haggling over the price, which he claims is slightly strange.
Samuel also notes the reported difference in the buying price, which is supposedly holding the deal back, and the lack of comment from Mike Ashley on what is going on at his club.
As per the article, NUFC’s owner is apparently not particularly fond of Amanda Staveley, the businesswoman fronting the bid.
Samuel highlights other reasons why he thinks of the deal to be unusual, and by playing devil’s advocate, it seems as if he has cast doubts in some supporter’s minds.
