Newcastle United: Fans react hilariously to Sol Campbell becoming Southend United manager

Following the announcement that Sol Campbell was appointed as Southend United’s new manager, Newcastle United fans reacted brilliantly to the news.

The ex-England defender made eight appearances for Newcastle back in the 2010/2011 season, managing to make a less-than monumental impact during the twilight stage of his career.

Campbell, who is widely regarded as a Premier League legend with 73 England caps, made the decision to join Southend on Tuesday with the Shrimpers currently struggling for form and in real danger of relegation following a disastrous start to the campaign.

Their last match being a 7-1 mauling at the hands of Doncaster Rovers, Campbell will know he has one heck of a job on his hands.

Despite the brave decision to further his managerial career with struggling Southend, Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter and have reacted hilariously at the congratulatory tweet from the club on his appointment.
