Loads of Newcastle United fans have reacted to a simulation on the game Football Manager 2020 which was posted by ChronicleLive and shared on The Chronicle‘s official Twitter page.
With speculation going around over a new proposed takeover at the Tyneside club, the outlet decided to see what it could be like under new ownership. Amanda Staveley was brought in as chairman on the game and the rest is history.

One of the first things Staveley did was sack Steve Bruce and bring in Steven Gerrard as manager. The first transfer window saw them spend a net of £215 million, buying the likes of Ben Chilwell and Max Aarons, whilst letting go of players including Isaac Hayden and Dwight Gayle. The Magpies finished in 9th position in the Premier League table.
Two more campaigns were simulated, with NUFC finishing in eighth and eleventh in the top flight, buying the likes of Luis Suarez and Andre Onana, whilst letting go of Fabian Schar and Martin Dubravka along the way.
These members of the Toon faithful reacted to the simulation:
Somebody has been working on this ?! Haha

Hate stuff like this! Shouldn’t even entertain it but I’ll have a look

Tell you what, if we spent that much and finished 11th after 3 seasons, Gerrard needs firing and that’s been abysmal 😂
