Newcastle United: Fans react to news that stadiums will not be full for 18 months

Some Newcastle United fans have reacted to a report that states that football stadiums like St. James’ Park will not reach their full capacity for 18 months.

As per an article from The Times (via ChronicleLive), an epidemiologist at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia thinks that it may not be possible for supporters to attend sports events until a vaccine is made to try and stop the global pandemic from spreading.

Dr. Zach Binney claims that a number of clubs in the top flight, as well as teams in the English Football League, are already facing severe financial difficulties as a result of a loss of potential revenue for a match day.

He explained that every person that you add to a gathering, including a football match, will add a risk. Binney added that if a club like NUFC had a very low community-based transmission, it only takes a few people in the crowd for there to be a significant risk. He was very firm on his analysis that stadiums should not be filled to their full capacity until a vaccine is made.
