Some Newcastle United fans have reacted to writer Steve Wraith‘s verdict on human rights campaigners Amnesty after his thoughts were relayed by ChronicleLive.
As per the outlet, Wraith says that Amnesty must be heard but stressed that NUFC is his club and as supporters collectively they want to see a new owner.
CEO of Sports Direct Mike Ashley still owns the Tyneside club at this moment in time, but threat of a proposed takeover from a Saudi-led consortium looms large over St. James’ Park.
However, Amnesty UK have previously expressed their concerns about the deal potentially going through, with director Kate Allen saying in a letter that as long as questions remain unaddressed about Saudi Arabia’s human rights record, the Premier League is putting itself at risk by approving of the bid.
The top flight is yet to make their final decision, but if they allow the deal to go through then it would be another hurdle jumped in terms of the takeover being completed.
