Newcastle United: Fans respond to Duncan Castles’ takeover claim

Plenty of Newcastle United fans have responded to a takeover claim from sports journalist Duncan Castles after quotes from him about the proposed takeover at St. James’ Park were relayed by NUFC 360 on their Twitter page.

Castles claimed that the prospective buyers want to knock back the idea that it will be difficult to bring top players into the Tyneside club and, if necessary down the line, top managers to the Magpies.

Perhaps this is a hint that Steve Bruce may lose his job under new ownership, as they may not regard him as a top coach.

He also added that the Saudi-led consortium, spearheaded by businesswoman Amanda Staveley, maintain that they will comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations and not go down the route that Manchester City took.

City were accused of breaching these rules which consequently led to a Champions League ban lasting for two seasons, whether that will be upheld or not is yet to be decided.

As per Castles, there is still very substantial capital behind the bid and the buyers believe that they can radically change how NUFC operates as a football club.
