Newcastle United: Fans rubbish claims they have approached Boubakary Soumare

According to a report from French outlet L’Equipe, Newcastle United have displayed an interest in bringing coveted Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare to St. James’ Park for a £42.6 million sum – but these Magpies supporters have rubbished the claims they’d be willing to spend that amount of money.

Soumare, who has started 14 Ligue 1 games this season for Lille, has attracted suitors from all over Europe, including Manchester United, in a race for the prospect’s signature. Now, the 20-year-old appears to be on Steve Bruce’s radar as they look to strengthen their squad before the January window closes.

The Frenchman, when compared to Newcastle’s current midfield player Jonjo Shelvey, definitely appears to surpass the Magpies man in terms of passing – having accumulated a noteworthy 90.2% success rate this campaign in comparison to Shelvey’s 74.2%, as per WhoScored.com. In other aspects, Soumare has also made more passes overall per game (40.1) whilst the Englishman does manage to make more key passes on average (1.8).

However, according to these Newcastle fans, this is all pretty irrelevant due to the fact their club are unlikely to pay that high of a fee – find all of their best comments down below.
