Newcastle United fans aren’t buying the latest rumours that an American group is reportedly interested in taking over the North East club for a whopping £300m.
According to the Mail Online, a group of wealthy businessmen are keen on buying Newcastle from current owner Mike Ashley, although the club’s league position at the moment is believed to a worrying sign for the possible investors. Currently 19th in the Premier League without a win to their name after eight matches, possible relegation could halt the group’s interest in going through with the takeover.
But, Newcastle fans have rejected the claims, saying it all sounds too good to be true. The club’s fans have been leading a mass protest since the start of the season against the Ashley administration after failing to make any significant signings in the summer, despite indicating that the club has money available.
