Newcastle United: Fans slam ex-Sunderland man Kevin Phillips’ view on Mauricio Pochettino

Plenty of Newcastle United fans have slammed former Sunderland man Kevin Phillips’ view that Mauricio Pochettino will turn down the NUFC job in favour of a club that is already challenging for silverware, according to Football Insider.

The pundit suggested that the Argentine would not want to take on another project having just left Tottenham Hotspur. As per ESPN, the former Southampton manager is the preferred candidate to take over from Steve Bruce on Tyneside, with Massimiliano Allegri, Rafael Benitez and Lucien Favre also under consideration.

Phillips added that the Magpies would not be the right fit for the 48-year old given that they have not won a trophy in a long time, and imagines that ‘Poch’ would want to go somewhere where he can win something.

He also claimed that throwing money at it would not be a quick fix for the Toon, believing that it is a three-year project.
