Newcastle United: Fans slam further unlikelihood of landing Olivier Giroud

According to a report from the Northern Echo, Newcastle United have reportedly accepted that they will be unable to land Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in their search of a proven goalscorer – resulting in some Magpies supporters seething at their lack of fruition so far this window.

Just eight days into the highly anticipated January transfer window, with the rumour mill spinning continuously for a whole month, Newcastle have already set their sights on a number of targets – including RP Leipzig midfielder Ademola Lookman and AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek.

However, so far, Newcastle have failed to land any of their reported targets – with a potential move for Giroud now being downplayed given the club have conceded they are ‘unlikely’ to secure his signature.

The Frenchman bagged 11 goals and four assists during Chelsea’s Europa League triumph last campaign, potentially highlighting how he could be the prolific target man Newcastle are looking for – even despite the fact his aerial duel success in that time pails in comparison to that of Joelinton and Andy Carroll.

As a result, Newcastle supporters aren’t happy in potentially missing out – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
