Some Newcastle United fans have slammed comments made by Matt Ritchie as he told Portsmouth News that he would like to return to Fratton Park.
According to the outlet, the 30-year old has a burning ambition to re-join the club he left back in 2011 to try and help them get back to where they used to be, in the Premier League. Ritchie added that it was a dream of his to play for Pompey and he believes that he has unfinished business in the blue jersey.

The Scottish international only managed 10 appearances for the south coast side in all competitions, providing two assists, as per Transfermarkt. Indeed, Ritchie is still contracted to Tyneside and has played in 140 games in all competitions for the Magpies, scoring 22 goals and making 26 assists (via the website).
These members of the Toon faithful slammed the midfielder’s comments on Twitter, with one NUFC supporter even suggesting that the club should let him go:
Why did he just sign a new contract then, should have gone if true

That’s more his level anyway

He should never have been given a new contract to be honest. He’s not good enough, let him go and replace him with Messi or Neymar 😁

What sort of ambition is this?
