Some Newcastle United fans have slammed the potential signing of John McGinn after a report from ChronicleLive writer Lee Ryder stated that the Tyneside club are monitoring the Aston Villa man.
According to the outlet, Steve Bruce is looking to bolster his midfield with the permanent signing of Nabil Bentaleb, and could add McGinn to that list, especially with a reported nine players that could leave in the summer transfer window.
One of those men could be Matty Longstaff, as the central midfielder is reportedly no closer to signing a new deal with the Magpies, meaning that he could potentially leave for free as soon as the season finishes, as per The Athletic.
Comparing the stats of the two in the Premier League this campaign, one could argue that McGinn would be an upgrade, albeit for ‘a lot of money’ as one NUFC supporter claims below. The Scottish international has managed more goals and assists, whilst also beating the Englishman in many shooting, passing, dribbling and defending stats, according to Whoscored.
However, these members of the Toon faithful have slammed the potential £30 million incoming, once hailed by Bruce as one of his best ever signings. Check out their reactions on Twitter:

Brucie has a pretty low benchmark in terms of players signed, so there’s not really anything to be exited about is there?
