Newcastle United: Fans split on Gonzalo Higuain as transfer news emerges

Many Newcastle United fans are split on Gonzalo Higuain as transfer news has emerged from The Daily Express that the Tyneside club are keen to offer him a second chance in the Premier League.

As per the outlet, Wolverhampton Wanderers are also interested in the former Chelsea man. Indeed, Higuain only had a short spell at Stamford Bridge, scoring five goals in 14 appearances in the top flight, according to Transfermarkt.

Given his pedigree, one might expect his goal tally to be higher, but the 32-year old is not getting any younger and he may struggle again in England’s highest division.

One member of the Toon faithful claimed that he ‘would prefer Ings’, as the Southampton striker has managed treble the number of strikes of Higuain in their respective domestic leagues, with 15 so far this season compared to Higuain’s five, according to Whoscored.

However, one NUFC supporter said that the £22.95 million-valued player is arguably the ‘best finisher in Europe’, netting a relatively impressive 304 times in 622 club games for big names like Real Madrid, Napoli, AC Milan and now Juventus (via Transfermarkt).
