Some Newcastle United fans have voted for former captain Fabricio Coloccini to be in the Tyneside club’s Hall of Fame from all the players to have represented them over the last 10 years.
There were plenty of other names thrown about, including fellow Argentinian Jonas Gutierrez, as well as Senegalese striking duo Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba, craftsman Yohan Cabaye and even current captain Jamaal Lascelles.
However, Coloccini seemed to win over many members of the Toon faithful. The 38-year old made 275 appearances across all competitions over eight seasons, playing mainly in the heart of defence, according to Transfermarkt. He also represented the likes of AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, whilst boasting 38 senior caps for his country.
Amongst his accolades are an Olympic medal in addition to being an Under-20 World Cup winner and a champion in Argentina three times, as per the website.
These NUFC supporters hailed their ex-ace, with one Magpie claiming that Coloccini stuck by the club ‘through thick and thin’:
