Hatice Cengiz is reportedly ‘confident’ that the Premier League will block the proposed takeover of Newcastle United, according to the Daily Star.

As per the outlet, the fiancee of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who has already written several letters addressing the Toon faithful and the top flight, claims that England’s highest division will block the £300 million bid if they follow their own Owners’ and Directors’ Test (ODT), which deems as to whether the would-be owners are fit and proper to be able to take over a football club, in this case the Magpies.
“My communication with the Premier League achieved results, they acknowledged that they are fully considering my petition,” she said. “I’m confident that if the Premier league follows their own rules they will block the takeover.”

Nevertheless, if Cengiz is proven right, then the prospective takeover may indeed be blocked by the top flight, which would be a huge blow to members of the Toon faithful.
