Speaking to the Chronicle surrounding manager Steve Bruce’s tactics, Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has opened up over his desire to have more of the ball heading into their clash with Burnley at St. James’ Park.
According to another report from the Chronicle, Newcastle have averaged a meagre 39.8% possession rate on average in the Premier League this season, among the lowest in the division, with Lascelles coming out and hinting that his side need more of the ball. The Englishman, who has started 17 games for the Magpies this campaign (WhoScored), was previously described by Gary Neville as a ‘leader’ (Sky Sports via HITC) – with supporters presumably hoping he can display those qualities now more than ever in a bid to avoid the drop.
Responding to Lascelles’ admission that Newcastle’s current approach ‘takes it out‘ of the players, many supporters have been divided and in full discussion over his verdict – with one fan claiming he could be a manager ‘one day‘ while another sarcastically slams his ‘insight‘.
