A journalist writing for The Shields Gazette has revealed as to why the proposed takeover of Newcastle United may still go through amid the news that emerged about beIN.
As per the outlet, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) General Authority for Competition (GAC) announced that they had terminated the licence of the Qatari sports broadcaster permanently in the KSA.

They also fined them 10 million Saudi Riyals, which is the equivalent of around £2.14 million, because of violations of Saudi competition law that went all the way back to the European Championships in 2016.
However, the writer explains as to why the prospective takeover may still go through based on fresh information coming from the KSA.
As per the journalist, the Saudi Telecom Company are apparently the favourites to buy out the share of the deal beIN originally had with the Premier League, and are also said to be keen to buy out the rights for the whole Middle Eastern region, including potentially outbidding the beIN Sports Group if that is what it would take.
Indeed, this would be a big statement in itself if this happens, but it may also help strengthen the ties of the Saudis with the top flight, as they are willing to possibly pay a lot of money to buy the official rights to show games from England’s highest division.

It also seems as if the country are trying to rid of their issues with piracy once and for all, which may work in their favour for when the league makes its final decision.
