Despite landing Nabil Bentaleb, Danny Rose and Valentino Lazaro on loan deals to round off an arguably good January transfer window for Newcastle United, some supporters still detest the fact that they have failed to land a striker – leading to protests on Twitter.
According to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie’s update on Twitter, Newcastle have also failed to land reported target Olivier Giroud (Sky Sports) – with manager Steve Bruce feeling he has ‘exhausted all options‘ in bringing a forward to St. James’ Park.
This news, as well as a tweet put out by the Chronicle asking if Magpies supporters are happy with the club’s business, has frustrated a portion of fans who desperately wanted the club to sign a much-needed striker. Current forwards Joelinton and Andy Carroll, while winning an impressive amount of aerial duels, 5.4 and 5.8 respectively, have only managed to score one Premier League goal between them all season, as per WhoScored.com.
As a result, these Newcastle fans have bemoaned the news that they haven’t landed a star forward – here’s what they had to say on Twitter, as one supporter lambasted the ‘huge failure’ not to provide competition for Joelinton and Carroll.
Waste of time unless we can score goals . Not bringing a striker in still makes this window a huge failure.

Nope, we needed a striker & could’ve easily acquired one, most other clubs in this league have who aren’t as desperate for another body up front as we are?
