Newcastle United: Latest on Amanda Staveley court case amid takeover

St James' Park Newcastle

The latest developments of the court case involving Amanda Staveley have been revealed by The Chronicle amid the proposed takeover of Newcastle United.

As per the outlet, the businesswoman has been involved in a High Court battle worth ÂŁ1.6 billion with British bank Barclays, as she has accepted an apology from a former boss at the bank for undermining her in a disrespectful way.

Which year did Ashley launch his Newcastle takeover?

Stephen Jones, who worked in the investment banking division of Barclays, made comments toward Staveley in a phone call with another former boss at the company all the way back in October of 2008.

Details of the call emerged at a High Court trial in London as a lawyer, who had been given instructions by Staveley, told judge Justice Waksman that she had accepted an apology made privately to her by Mr Jones.

Indeed, Staveley is one member of a Kingdom of Saudi Arabian (KSA) group trying to buy the Magpies off of the hands of Mike Ashley, as the head of PCP Capital Partners is also joined by the KSA crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), his country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the billionaire Reuben brothers, who are originally from India but are now based in London.

Members of the Toon Army will surely be hoping that she wins her court case so that the process of the prospective takeover could potentially be sped up as Staveley would be able to set her mind fully on getting the ÂŁ300 million bid over the line.

Will the Newcastle takeover go through?
