According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is still ‘yet to receive a firm offer‘ for the club after a week of radio silence in negotiations with Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Amanda Staveley – prompting some Magpies supporters to attack the news.
Lee Ryder’s update for the Chronicle echoed this Mirror report, with the Sports Direct magnate seemingly waiting on a £340 million offer for the club’s shares as well as a ‘non-refundable bond‘ of £250,000 to be paid to him directly. A report from the Guardian last week previously indicated that the deal was ‘90% done‘ – with investment from the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, brokered by former prospective buyer Amanda Staveley, being seemingly imminent at one stage.
