Luke Edwards has claimed that Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce will prioritise signing a new striker in the summer transfer window.
#nufc need a striker, Bruce knows this is the priority so you would presume this is where the money he has will be spent. But nobody is doing much business at the moment, it’s a very strange window with budgets decimated and asking prices remaining at pre-Covid levels so far

As per the tweet from the Daily Telegraph journalist, “Bruce knows this is the priority” with regards to the Tyneside club signing a brand new striker as Edwards added that this is where the money will be spent.
However, he warned that no-one is doing much business currently because of the financial backlash from the global pandemic outbreak that swept over the footballing community.
Nevertheless, Edwards believes that Bruce will make signing a new centre-forward his priority, and it is hard to argue with him.
Between Andy Carroll, Dwight Gayle, Yoshinori Muto and Joelinton in the Premier League in the 2019/20 season, they only scored six goals, according to Whoscored.

Only relegated teams Norwich City and Watford and Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace scored fewer goals than the Magpies in the top flight as well (via My Football Facts), highlighting the need to find a goalscorer in the market.
Joelinton was bought for a club-record fee to try and fix these problems, but the Brazilian had a far-from-prolific debut campaign in the North East.
The 23-year old scored just a mere four goals in 44 games in all competitions for the Toon in the last term (per Transfermarkt).

It has been a move that has not really paid off as of yet, and so NUFC may well be looking for a fresh face up front to try and put more balls in the back of the net.
However, whether they spend as much on him as they did on Joelinton is another question, but they will surely have to spend their money more wisely this time.
Geordies, should Joelinton be given a chance to prove himself? Comment below!
