Newcastle United: Magpies fans react to Matty Longstaff’s exit links

Matty Longstaff is considering leaving Newcastle United on a free transfer in the summer, as claimed in an exclusive via TEAMtalk.

The 20-year-old’s contract expires in June and he has failed to reach a new agreement with his boyhood club. As a result, Longstaff is ready to leave Tyneside in the upcoming transfer window, with a whole host of European clubs expressing an interest in the player. Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, Arsenal and Everton have all made enquiries about the defensive midfielder’s services.

Matty has played in 7 Premier League games for Steve Bruce’s Black and Whites, bagging goals against Manchester United at home and away, and netting a goal during the 4-1 defeat of Rochdale in the FA Cup third round replay at St James’ Park. His current market value is estimated at just £3.6m via Transfermarkt.

Predictably plenty of Magpies slammed Longstaff’s exit links, with one supporter branding him a “Championship player.” Another urged the club to “let him go.”

On the other hand, some Geordies leapt to the youngster’s defence, arguing he can’t be blamed for the board’s failings.
