Hendrick has a lot of experience in the Premier League under his belt, having played in a total of 122 games across the last four seasons, scoring nine goals and making a further five assists, as per Transfermarkt.
The £8.1 million-valued ace is also a full international for the Republic of Ireland, having played in a relatively impressive total of 54 matches at senior level, netting two times (via the website).
At 28 years of age, and with a vast amount of experience to his name, Hendrick could perhaps be a decent bit of business providing that the Tyneside club can get the deal over the line first.
He will provide some healthy competition in the middle of the park for the likes of Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey and Sean Longstaff as Bruce would surely encourage competition for places.
