Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has been asked for some sort of clarity on the proposed takeover in the North East by his own players at the Tyneside club, led by captain Jamaal Lascelles, according to the Daily Mirror.
As per the outlet, the squad have made their own personal pleas to the CEO of Sports Direct with regards to the whole situation, with Lascelles apparently speaking to him on behalf of all of his teammates.

Ashley has always been in the position that he wants to sell up at St. James’ Park and has thus agreed to take £300 million from a Saudi Arabian-led group in order to give up his reign of 13 years at the Magpies.
However, there has been delay after delay with regards to an official announcement to be made by the Premier League as several obstacles seem to be getting in the way of their approval.
Whether Ashley can actually affect the bid any further is another question, as it seems to solely lie on the results of the Owners’ and Directors’ Test (ODT) set out by the top flight to make sure that the buying side are both fit and proper to be able to run the football club.
Nevertheless, the players seem to be losing their patience now as the saga drags on, to the extent that Lascelles has personally contacted Ashley on behalf of the team in order to try and get some more clarity.

This has piled on the pressure on the 55-year old owner, as members of the Toon faithful wait for the final decision to be made.
