According to a report from Insider.com, Mike Ashley’s firm Frasers Group has declared that they have cleared up a large part of the enquiry made into a £570 million Belgian tax bill – with these Newcastle United supporters fearing the worst following this update on the owner’s financial affairs.
Ashley, who has reportedly been in talks with Prince Mohammed bin Salman to sell the club, brokered by Amanda Staveley (The Guardian), has appeared to have received a huge boost in regards to his firm’s financial dealings – with the £570 million tax debacle being cleared up according to a statement from Frasers Group via Insider.com. The Sports Direct magnate, who is apparently demanding a £340 million fee for the sale of Newcastle, is currently in talks with Prince Salman’s Saudi Arabian consortium backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund. Staveley, who failed to buy the club on a sole venture with PCP Capital Partners, is thought to be facilitating the deal in the hopes of gaining a 10% stake.
