According to a report from the Chronicle [19:47], controversial Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is ‘demanding answers’ after his proposed takeover talks with a consortium lead by Saudi Arabian Prince Mohammed bin Salman were leaked – with the negotiations reportedly having gone on for four months.
Ashley, who took over the Magpies in 2007, has since endured a controversial reign at the helm of St. James’ Park, with numerous takeover bids – including one from current broker Amanda Staveley of PCP Capital Partners – having failed in the past (Telegraph).
Now, Staveley is attempting to assist negotiations in the hopes of receiving a 10% share if the deal is a success. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund appear to be the main party in talks with Ashley, but the Sports Direct magnate is reportedly furious with the details being leaked to the public – with previous reports suggesting it is ‘90% likely‘ to go ahead (The Guardian).
As a result of Ashley’s perceived anger at the development, Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter in order to slam the owner – here’s what they had to say.
Here we go again.

It’s same old same old, every window, leaks are made and Ashley miraculously pulls out. Every single time
