Newcastle United have been handed a boost after learning that Premier League rivals Arsenal are open to offers for Kieran Tierney, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Growing frustrations?

Eddie Howe is reportedly in the market for a new left-back this summer and has identified the 25-year-old as an ideal candidate.

The Gunners star’s contract at the Emirates Stadium isn’t set to expire until 2026, but it’s believed that he’s growing frustrated at his lack of game time after falling down the pecking order behind Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Magpies were first credited with an interest in the Scottish international last month and they have now been given the green light to take it one step further.

The Latest: Arsenal open to Tierney offers

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are set to be ‘open to offers’ for Tierney as they look to generate funds by offloading several fringe players this summer.

Mikel Arteta’s player is ‘firmly’ on the northeast outfit’s radar and it’s believed that he’s currently valued at approximately £30m.

The Verdict: No-brainer

Tierney has been dubbed a ‘baller’ by talent scout Jacek Kulig so should the opportunity to sign him arise, Newcastle have a no-brainer of a decision to make.

The left-footed gem has posted 18 goal contributions (13 assists and five goals) during his time in N7 and ranks in the 92nd percentile for progressive passes.

The Douglas-born talent would also bring versatility to St. James’ Park having operated in the midfield and at centre-back alongside his natural position.

Finally, Tierney shares the same agent as three Magpies stars (Nick Pope, Elliot Anderson and Javier Manquillo) which could give them an advantage in the race for his signature.
