This time last year, Newcastle United announced the signing of French winger Allan Saint-Maximin.
The Magpies brought the France international to Tyneside in a £16.5million from his former side Nice (via BBC Sport). Since his arrival, he has rapidly become a fan and club favourite plus a real threat to any opposition defence.
Is Allan Saint-Maximin Newcastle's best attacker?
Saint-Maximin tallied four goals and seven assists for the 2019/20 season, including an impressive three goal contributions in four appearances in Newcastle’s FA Cup run (via Transfermarkt).
The official Toon Instagram account has marked the one-year anniversary of the 23-year-old’s first arrival. Supporters have flooded the comments to heap praise on his performances so far and have urged the club to do whatever they can to make sure the £25.2million-valued ace doesn’t go anywhere.
Indeed, he has been linked with a transfer this summer with Wolves touted as a club who are interested in securing his services recently.
Although the reported takeover between Newcastle and PCP Capital Partners fell through, talks continue to swirl around a new deal. Fans will be eager to see the ownership of the club change hands which will hopefully spark an exciting new era at the Tyneside outfit.
The Toon finished 13th in the Premier League table this season, which is a well-respected place for a side that struggled to find the back of the net with just 38 goals scored. Steve Bruce and Co will hope to build on this and edge closer to the top half of the table next term.
