Responding to news that Newcastle United have sold out their FA Cup fourth-round tie at home to Oxford United, many Magpies fans have been divided over the Mike Ashley protests as their team gear up to play in front of a full house.
Manager Steve Bruce confirmed to the Newcastle Chronicle [11:06] that St. James’ Park will be sold out for their clash with the League One minnows, prompting supporters to debate whether the Ashley ownership protests are indeed working.
Throughout the campaign, Magpies supporters have been boycotting home games in an attempt to oust controversial magnate Ashley from the club’s hierarchy, with the Sports Direct owner’s reign gradually being met with hostility since his takeover in 2007.
However, given the fact that Newcastle will play in front of 50,000 home supporters, fans have questioned whether the protests are still in full swing whilst simultaneously debating the merit of them in general.

10,000 free tickets will skew people’s perception of the boycott. At least 5,000 season ticket holders walked away in the summer. It will be interesting to see what initiatives @nufc have to retain current STH after giving away so many free / cheap tickets
