Speaking in a post by the Chronicle, journalist Simon Bird has been in full voice over Newcastle United’s attacking problems this season – with his take that Steve Bruce needs to sort out the defence first since baffling loads of supporters on Twitter.
According to Footy Stats, Newcastle United have averaged a ‘very poor‘ 0.92 goals scored per match so far this season, with a lot of those strikes seemingly coming from defenders. As well as this, record summer signing Joelinton has failed to find the net more than once in the Premier League – with his latest league goal coming in a 1-0 victory away to Spurs back in August 2019.
However, Bird, speaking to the Chronicle, insists that signing a pacy centre-back could be the key in unlocking the Magpies’ potential – with manager Bruce forced to play three at the back this season in order to sure up their defence. Responding to the verdict, many Magpies supporters have disagreed completely on Twitter.

Sorry but that’s nonsense. Our biggest problem (along with having a donkey up front) is that we sit too deep, our current cb’s bypass the midfield and when they don’t our 2 cm’s are outnumbered, don’t have support, can’t beat a man and end up either passing back to defence to 1/2
