The proposed takeover of Newcastle United has been given a big boost as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian (KSA) ruler King Salaman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud agreed to pass the latest round of measures against piracy in the country, as per The Chronicle.
A statement was released by the Kingdom’s Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), which listed several measures that will occur to try and crack down on the piracy issues in the country further.
The website for the SAIP also has an option now that will allow visitors to file lawsuits against any further acts of piracy that they may come across.
It is thought that these measures have been taken as a result of the findings made by the report of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), which found that the pirate satellite TV channel beoutQ, responsible for the streaming and broadcasting of games in the Premier League illegally, was being run in Saudi Arabia, as accused by the Qataris.

This breached their own international laws as Qatar are the only country in the Middle East that have the rights to show these matches, therefore the Saudis were committing an act of piracy, and have now since tried to stamp down on it.
This may also put the Saudi Arabian crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS) and his country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) in a good light as they are due to hold a share of 80 per cent if the proposed takeover in the North East is approved by the top flight.
It was a concern that the takeover may be rejected by the Premier League due to the piracy issues, but this looks to be a step in the right direction for the bid which may now have a better chance of being passed.
