The prospective takeover of Newcastle United will spell danger for Steve Bruce, as former England international now pundit Danny Mills has claimed to Football Insider.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the manager of the Tyneside club implied that he could compete with the likes of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp at the top of the Premier League if given financial backing by the incoming new owners.
However, Mills has suggested that the Amanda Staveley-led consortium will appoint a new coach of the first-team regardless of how Bruce performs over the coming weeks, providing that the beautiful game does indeed return in England.

“It is going to be very difficult for Steve Bruce,” the ex-defender told the outlet. “He has not done a bad job and he is a very capable and very good manager.
“But big owners coming in with a lot of money will want to put their own person in. They will want the fans onside immediately and the easiest way to do that is to appoint a manager.
“It is unfortunate for Bruce because he has done a good job. We often see owners come in with their own ideas and the first person to go is normally the manager.”
Indeed, Bruce has led the Magpies to an FA Cup quarter-final against reigning champions Manchester City at St. James’ Park, and his team also sit rather comfortably in 13th place on 35 points in the Premier League table with nine games left to play, as per the BBC.
However, he is not the would-be owner’s man. Indeed, the 59-year old was appointed by Mike Ashley, but he would be set to end his reign of 13 years at the Toon if the Saudi-led consortium do eventually move into the North East.
Mills believes that this takeover could ultimately cost Bruce his job, not necessarily because of his performance so far this season, but because the proposed buyers will want to bring their own person in.
