Newcastle United: These Magpies react to Steve Bruce’s praise of Miguel Almiron amid formation shift

Steve Bruce has admitted that a recent change in formation has reinvigorated star signing Miguel Almiron in a report by the Chronicle.

As expected loads of Magpies have weighed in on the boss’s fresh comments, with one fan asking “how on gods earth has it taken this long?” Another added “and when he gets subbed we fall apart.”

Bruce said “we’re now playing two at the top end of the pitch. The move has brought Miggy back to life again.”

The former Manchester United defender praised Almiron’s work ethic, saying “he’s took his chance brilliantly well. You can’t deny he’s a manager’s dream. He trains hard every day and every statistic he wins. He is a delight to manage. He trains and plays with a smile on his face.”

In fairness to Bruce, placing Almiron in his favoured role certainly seems to be working, as the Paraguayan international delivered a sensational performance against West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup. Almiron netted 2 goals away at the Hawthorns, making him the leading goalscorer of the season across all competitions ahead of Jonjo Shelvey (Transfermarkt).

The 26-year-old joined the Tyneside club from MLS team Atlanta United in January 2019 for a fee of £21.6m. His current market value rests at £18m (Transfermarkt).
