Newcastle United’s lengthy pursuit of Ryan Fraser is fast approaching D-Day as the Scottish international looks set to decide his future.
Steve Bruce’s side are expected to carry on their transfer business this summer, despite news breaking on Thursday about the potential of a £300m takeover coming to an end, and a move for Fraser is now expected.
The 26-year-old, who left Bournemouth at the end of the season, spent eight years with the Cherries, following their rise from League One to the Premier League.
It is understood that Fraser is a long-term target of Newcastle and, according to Shields Gazette, the Scottish international is close to deciding where his career lies next.
The report claimed that Newcastle have been interested in Fraser since 2019 when Rafael Benitez was in charge at St. James Park and that a pre-contract offer back in May was initially turned down due to alleged interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
With the winger now seemingly set to decide his future, Newcastle will nervously wait to see if he accepts a deal with them and holds of interest from either of the aforementioned duo or Crystal Palace and West Ham United, who are also credited with interest by Shields Gazette.
Fraser seemingly has a lot of interest in him at the moment and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
The Scotsman would be an ideal signing for Newcastle, potentially adding to a lively attack that features the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin, while also bringing plentiful experience with 120 Premier League appearances to his name.
