Newcastle United have reportedly held talks with Bournemouth about the availability of Callum Wilson and Josh King, according to The Northern Echo.
As per the outlet, Steve Bruce is looking to sign a striker in the summer transfer window and would ideally like to sign someone with experience in the Premier League.
If they could only sign one, who should Newcastle sign?
Indeed, the Cherries duo have a wealth of experience in the top flight, with Wilson scoring 41 goals and providing 16 assists in 126 games and King recording 48 goals and 15 assists in 161 matches in the division.
However, the Magpies will face plenty of competition if they want to sign both or even just one of the players in this window, with King being linked to at least four clubs in the Serie A, while Aston Villa are aid to be interested in Wilson, and are apparently ready to offer Scott Hogan in part-exchange, as per The Northern Echo
Bournemouth are set to demand a transfer fee of around £30m for Wilson, which is only £5m less than Newcastle’s entire transfer budget for this summer.
Nevertheless, it may be worth it given what both strikers could offer at St James’ Park. King scored more goals and made more assists than both Dwight Gayle and Joelinton in the Premier League in 2019/20 and also averaged more key passes, dribbles and passes per league game than the Magpies duo (via WhoScored).
Wilson also scored more goals than both Gayle and Joelinton combined, while also averaging more shots per league match (per WhoScored).
Whether Newcastle would be willing to potentially break the bank to secure their signatures is another question, but they may need to act fast if they are to beat off the competition.
