The Bellagraph Nova (BN) Group want to sign world superstar Cristiano Ronaldo if their proposed takeover of Newcastle United goes through, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Indeed, the consortium, which was co-founded by businesswoman Evangeline Shen and Singaporeans Nelson and Terence Loh, have reportedly made a bid worth £280 million in an attempt to try and buy out Mike Ashley, and have even offered St. James’ Park legend Alan Shearer the manager’s job should their deal go through.
Is Ronaldo a realistic signing for Newcastle after the takeover?
However, it is the talk of another legend potentially arriving in the North East which will surely get tails wagging.
Ronaldo has no doubt been an exceptional servant to the beautiful game, having won a plethora of trophies including five Ballon D’Or’s and five UEFA Champions League titles, as well as several other accolades, as per Transfermarkt.
The £54 million-valued talisman not only has had a stellar career playing for the likes of Real Madrid and now Juventus, but he also has previous experience playing in England with Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Across six consecutive seasons at Old Trafford, Ronaldo scored a total of 118 goals and made a further 69 assists in 292 games in all competitions, which is relatively impressive considering that he mainly operated from the wing (via Transfermarkt).
One may question as to whether he still has the legs left in him being 35 years of age now, but what a statement signing it would be if the BN Group could lure the Portuguese international to the North East, providing that they can get their takeover over the line first.
