Luke Edwards has dealt a big blow to Newcastle United as his Daily Telegraph piece has revealed that they have no money to spend in January.
As per his article, Steve Bruce will have no extra cash flow to spend in next month’s window, meaning that the Tyneside club will either have to raise funds through sales of players or only deal with loan moves or free transfers.
Are Newcastle fans right to demand more?
To make matters worse for the St. James’ Park faithful, the journalist also confirmed that both Allan Saint-Maximin and Ryan Fraser will be out for most of the month, meaning that they will have to make do with what they have currently in the squad to replace those players on the pitch for the next few games.
Can Newcastle still do significant business?
The Magpies could still do significant business in the window if they can trim their squad first, with as many as six players reportedly being linked with a possible move away from the North East.
Selling these players would raise some funds for other potential deals, or help pay wages for players arriving on loan for the rest of the 2020/21 term.
Nonetheless, it is a fairly devastating blow for the Toon not to have any money to spend in January.
