According to The Sun, contrary to other reports, there was no confrontation between Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and striker Diego Costa after the game against Leicester City, much to the relief of the fans here in the Transfer Tavern.
The Blues beat the Foxes comfortably 3-0 at Stamford Bridge but one of the flashpoints saw Diego Costa appear to demand that he be substituted during the second half.
Antonio Conte, did no such thing sparking rumours the two had an altercation after the game but The Sun says that that did not happen.
The report says: ‘Club sources told SunSport that while the pair had a ‘misunderstanding’ on the pitch, no confrontation took place later.’
The news comes thankfully to the Chelsea fans here by the bar in the Tavern and around the country, after there were worries that the two would no longer be able to work together.
Instead, though, the Blues can now focus on the return of Jose Mourinho with Manchester United to the Bridge and one Chelsea fan here in the Transfer Tavern had this to say about his return: “Obviously, we can’t wait to see him because he’s a legend of the club, but come that whistle for kick-off I want us to beat them.”
