‘Now we’re talking’ - Man City fans are delighted by fresh contract reports on Twitter

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have grown fond of Mikel Arteta since he arrived at the club to take on a coaching role two years ago, so naturally they were pleased that Arsenal offered the vacant managerial position to Unai Emery on Wednesday.

Mikel Arteta looked nailed on to succeed Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium just a few days ago, but his first venture into football management has been put on hold by Arsenal’s decision to appoint the experienced Emery.

Considering Arteta has just two years coaching experience under his belt, it’s fair to say that the Arsenal job was probably a step too far for him at this stage in his development.

In light of Arsenal’s decision, the hierarchy at Man City are set to offer Arteta an extension to his current contract which expires in the summer 0f 2019 according to the Daily Telegraph, as the club begin laying the foundations of a post-Guardiola era at the Etihad Stadium.

According to the report, Arteta is viewed as a potential long-term successor to Guardiola and, judging by the reaction on Twitter to the latest news, it seems the supporters firmly share that opinion.

The Citizens faithful have expressed their delight at City’s decision to offer Arteta a contract extension, and plenty are already beginning to look forward to the future with him at the helm.
