The Toon Army in the Transfer Tavern have been absolutely furious in the last 24 hours since they missed out on the signing of Daniel Sturridge.
Newcastle United are simply crying out for a new striker, but their chances of securing a quality target are looking increasingly unlikely with less than 48 hours to go until the mid-season window slams shut. Yesterday evening, West Bromwich Albion confirmed that they have signed Liverpool outcast Daniel Sturridge on a loan deal until the end of the season, and it’s fair to say The Magpies faithful were far from happy with the news.
Their frustration is completely understandable considering West Brom are one of their fiercest relegation rivals. By losing out on Sturridge’s signature to The Baggies, the Newcastle supporters clearly believe that they have handed West Brom a huge boost in their race for survival.
Following the disappointing news, the Toon Army turned out in their numbers on Twitter to slate the transfer policy of the board and suggest that their chances of survival have significantly diminished as a consequence of the Sturridge deal.
However, there is still time for Newcastle to pull off an unlikely eleventh hour deal for a quality striker, and the supporters will certainly hoping that their criticism of the club will force Mike Ashley to splash the cash before the clock strikes midnight tomorrow evening.
