The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been getting nervous over their links to Feyenoord striker, Nicolai Jorgensen, after his performance for Denmark yesterday. The 27-year-old came off the bench after 66 minutes and had little impact on the game before missing Denmark’s 5th penalty in the shoot-out, giving Ivan Rakitic the chance to win the game, which he duly took.
Jorgensen is a Mag alright.

After watching Jorgensen flail around up front for his country for almost 45 minutes of football before bottling his country’s most important penalty, the Magpies propping our bar up in agreement that he might not be the best option of strikers to sign. Rafa Benitez currently has Dwight Gayle and Joselu to pick from and whilst Jorgensen might look like an upgrade on paper, in practice, he’s probably no better.
The Danish frontman plies his trade for Feyenoord in the Eredivisie at club level and signing players from Holland is always a lottery. Previously Premier League sides have signed players from the top clubs in the Netherlands and it can go one of two ways, either you end up with a Ruud Van Nistelrooy who becomes an instant hit or if you’re unlucky enough you get left with a Vincent Janssen. However, after last night’s display, the Geordies will be hoping they never have to find out what Jorgensen would be like.

On par with Joselu and I never thought I’d say that

As you can see, the Newcastle fans in the Tavern would not be impressed if the club decided to bring in Jorgensen after last night’s display.
