The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern were far from surprised as their side lost 1-0 at Villa Park on Friday as they stretched their run under Phil Heckingbottom to just two wins in 13 games. The fans though have been reacting to comments from their young ‘keeper, Bailey Peacock-Farrell. In an interview for the Yorkshire Evening Post, Peacock-Farrell wants to be the club’s number one for next season after being drafted in for the last eight Championship games.

Leeds United have been diabolical over the past few months. After looking like this season might be kind to them as they sat sixth at the turn of the year, things turned sour quickly. The club has won two games since January 1st and despite bringing in Heckingbottom to replace Thomas Christiansen, wins have been very hard to come by for the Yorkshire club.
The only positive for the fans over the last eight games has been the form of young shot-stopper, Bailey Peacock Farrell. The 21-year-old started the season as the club’s third-choice stopper but the awful form of Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan has given the youngster a chance between the sticks. Despite the fact the youngster is yet to keep a clean-sheet for the Elland Road faithful, he’s come in for praise as he’s looked dominant between the sticks even with one of the division’s shakiest back-fours in front of him.

He’s done himself no harm. However I think it’s dangerous hanging our hat on him as number 1 next season. I’d get rid of Lonners and Felix, recruit a senior keeper, have BPF start season as number 2. Represents a promotion for him compared to this season.
