Liverpool fans here in the Tavern are hoping that Jurgen Klopp can secure his first trophy this season, with many having lost the taste for silverware at Anfield.
Our local Liverpudlians are taking a stroll down memory lane to relive the glory of yesteryear, as many are reminiscent of the world-renowned Istanbul triumph back in 2005. A day on which some of the Liverpool legends of today were born, as a result of one of the most iconic nights in the club’s long and illustrious history.
Although, there’s one man who fans love almost as much as that memorable night in Turkey, and that’s Kop legend Xabi Alonso. The former Reds cult-hero is a popular figure on Merseyside after just under five glorious years spent with the club, of which he managed to accumulate over 200 appearances for the Liverpool faithful.
And, with many supporters dreaming of seeing the Spaniard back in the famous red shirt once again, they’ve been granted their wish as Alonso is set to feature in a Liverpool Legends match in March. Indeed, to get fans in the spirit of the game, Liverpool’s Twitter account took to posting an interview with Xabi Alonso speaking about what the club means to him.
