Crystal Palace’s long wait for a league win at Old Trafford continues following a goalless draw against Jose Mourinho’s men at the weekend.

Roy Hodgson’s men were on the verge of the Premier League relegation zone and showed plenty of heart to leave with a point against the Red Devils. Wayne Hennessey was in inspired form to keep the hosts out, while Patrick van Aanholt and Andros Townsend both spurned opportunities for the visitors. The draw meant the Eagles move one point clear of the bottom three heading into the busy festive period.

Once again, Palace failed to find the back of the net, and their lack of goals will be deeply concerning for the former England manager. A new striker should be top of his wishlist with the January transfer window now less than two months away. Wilfried Zaha looked excellent against his former side, but he needs a forward who can carry some of the goalscoring burden.

And one man Palace should consider is Levante forward Roger Marti.

Valued at £4.5 million by Transfermarkt, the 27-year-old has been a key player for the Spanish side following various loan spells at Real Zaragoza and Real Valladolid. Marti helped Levante achieve promotion in 2017, netting an incredible 22 goals, finishing second in the Segunda Division goal-scoring charts.

A long-term knee injury sidelined him for the majority of last campaign, but Marti has been quick to make up for lost time in the current season. The Spaniard has been in fine form in front of goal in La Liga, netting seven goals in just 11 appearances. Alongside Zaha in the attack, Marti would be able to take his game to the next level and score even more.

Palace are in desperate need of a natural goal-scorer, and Marti has scored consistently at whatever club he has been at - thus, this is a move Hodgson simply needs to make in the New Year.
