The official Everton Instagram account has provided Blues with some encouraging news as Jean Philippe-Gbamin feels ‘ready’ following recovery from injury.
The Ivorian international hasn’t had the best of luck in his Everton career so far. Gbamin joined the Merseyside outfit last summer for £25 million – he was brought in from Mainz to replace Idrissa Gana Gueye who left in the same summer to join Paris Saint-Germain (via BBC Sport).
Will Jean-Philippe Gbamin have a successful 2020/21 season?
The 24-year-old has made just two appearances for Everton so far due to injury sidelining him for the majority of the season. Gbamin underwent surgery in October on a tendon injury in his right quadricep (via Everton). As a result, Toffees fans haven’t seen the best of the midfielder, especially not under Carlo Ancelotti.
However, the club has dealt fans some positive news after some quotes from Gbamin himself were posted on Everton’s official Instagram.
Fans have filled the comments as they celebrate the good news. The Ivorian will certainly be a welcome addition to next season’s squad after the current Everton midfield has struggled immensely this campaign. Only four goal contributions have come from the middle of the park this entire season (via Transfermarkt).
“I feel good, fully recovered and I am ready,” Gbamin told the club. “We are taking it slowly because it was a big injury but I can’t wait to play.”
