Four or five years ago, Newcastle fans would have you believe that Rolando Aarons was the next superstar to make it big out of St James Park. However, now, he’s been left out of Rafa Benitez Premier League squad for the season and it looks like he’ll be limited to U23 football.
Rolando Aarons left out of #nufc PL squad with the loan window now closed. Wow. Who’d have thought this would be how it ends when he first burst onto the scene?

The 22-year-old winger spent the second half of last season out on-loan in the Serie A with Verona and he failed to score a single goal or register a single assist in his few months in Italy. The winger had so much promise when he broke through into the Newcastle first-team set-up and whilst he does have two goals and two assists to his name in the Premier League, it’s hard to see him adding to those anytime soon.
The fans will be disappointed to see him fail to make it anywhere with them, but ultimately it seems his abysmal injury record and off-field distractions have really knocked him off course. It seemed destiny that he’d make it as a Magpie and get some England caps to his name, but after five games for the England U20s he failed to progress any further. It will be a long road to redemption if Aarons can make it at the club, but the Geordies aren’t counting on it.

he looked insane when he was 17 I thought he was going to have a big future 🙁

Mixed feelings on this – injuries and off field distractions really seem to have hampered him but at the same time not sure he has ever been given a fair chance when fit. Seems strange why Rafa seems to like ostracizing certain players rather than keeping them as an option.

He’s one those young talents destroyed by injuries. It’s sad to see especially when he first started for us, he looked like he had a bright future ahead of him

Probably 50% of the fans. What homegrown talent has been brought through Bar Paul Dummy

The fans are all gutted by Aarons’s absence from the Premier League squad and wish he had made good on his chances he’s had at the club over the years.
