According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Arsenal are planning on unloading striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January.

This comes after the 'hippy crack' incident recently, alongside fellow stars Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Özil.

However, while it is rumoured that manager Unai Emery wants to dispense of the player, with Spanish giants Real Madrid being the probable buyers, this would be a calamitous deal that could cost The Gunners their season.

The Gabon international has been in scintillating form so far this season for the north London club, scoring ten goals in 16  league appearances. Should they lose him in January, it is hard to know how the club will handle his absence, but it seems likely that they will be nowhere near as ruthless in front of goal.

It has also been rumoured, however, that The Gunners are interested in signing Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi. The Argentina international already has eight goals in 12 appearances in the Serie A this season, but this could be a very risky move halfway through a season. There are a lot of good Premier League strikers that have not taken to the league straight away, and Icardi could be one of them. His low output means he could struggle to adjust to the Premier League's more intense style, and The Gunners may not adapt around him.

This switch would be a huge risk that the club should not even dream of taking, particularly given the successful season they are having so far. The Gunners are in a very good position to secure a top-four finish this season, and would not want to jeopardize that with such a bizarre piece of business.
