According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham are interested in a January swoop for Barcelona winger Malcom.

The former Bordeaux man, who signed for the Spanish giants in the summer, has endured a poor start to his career at the Nou Camp, only making two La Liga appearances.

Tottenham's interest comes after a summer of infamy, where the club failed to secure a signing for the first time in the history of the English summer transfer window. They appear to be righting their wrongs of the summer, with a lot of interest in a number of players.

Malcom would be a massive signing for the club, which would give manager Mauricio Pochettino new options when picking his team. The 21-year-old is an out-and-out winger, which isn't a commodity that The Lilywhites have a lot of. Perhaps his compatriot Lucas Moura is the only man that is comparable stylistically to the Barcelona man. Some may argue the Son Heung-min is also a winger, although he is more of an attacking midfielder under Pochettino.

The variety that Malcom would bring the Argentinian could take Spurs to the next level, and will give them an attacking dimension that they've lacked. A front three with Moura and Harry Kane would be a very intimidating prospect for any defence that Spurs would come up against.

However, the price tag of £44m may be too steep for some Tottenham fans, particularly for a club that are notoriously frugal. However, it is this type of signing that can take Tottenham's attack to the same level as the likes of Man City and Liverpool.
