Spurs fans on Twitter keen to see Janssen recover and get back in the squad

Yesterday saw the news break that Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has undergone minor foot surgery and he will be going through a period of rehabilitation overseen by the Tottenham medical staff, scuppering a potential move in the final days of the European window.

Janssen is one of those who never got going at Tottenham and he may well be remembered as Roberto Soldado mark two, however, the difference is that Soldado was given a proper run in the side and had more than one chance whilst Janssen was given very little in the way of a second chance after his first season saw him draw a blank in front of goal on the odd occasion.

The only full season that Janssen spent with Spurs was during the 2016/17 season and he bagged himself six goals in 38 appearances. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that for a striker those numbers aren’t very good. However, if the 24-year-old can rediscover his Eredivisie form this season when he returns from injury then he’ll be a much more valued member of the squad and could be used to deputise for Kane as he was signed to do.

You can read the Lillywhites’ calls for Janssen’s return here:

As you can see, not all of the fans are getting on Janssen’s back and some are keen to see him succeed at the club.
