According to The Croydon Advertiser, Southampton are readying a bid for Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye with our resident Saints fans liking the idea of him joining here in the Transfer Tavern.
The Frenchman has been in and out of the Palace side so far this season due to injuries but he is thought of as one of the best players at the club, so if Southampton were to get him they’d be pulling off a fairly decent deal.
The former Newcastle United man was brought to the Eagles from PSG by Alan Pardew but has worked under Claude Puel, much earlier in his career, when they were at Lille and the report suggests the now Saints boss is still a fan of Cabaye.
The Eagles are on a poor run of form at the moment and lost again at the weekend to Burnley 3-2, another game in which Cabaye played as he tries to find some fitness.
Should this run continue relegation could be a real threat and because of that the Saints may feel that they can prise him away.
